ASSISTANT MARKET MANAGER

Assistant Market Manager is responsible for implementing day-of operations at the Burlington Farmers Market for the 2022 summer season.  The Assistant Manager is available on market days for set-up and breakdown of the site, customer service, administrative tasks, and to close out the site for the season. Approximately 10 hours a week with compensation beginning at $17.00/hour, depending on experience.

On-site market hours are every Saturday from May 7-October 29, 2022 from 6am-3pm.

The Assistant Market Manager reports to the Market Director. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations Planning and Logistics

  • Work with and supervise seasonal staff on set-up and closing of market as well as Market token system, EBT, Crop Cash, and Farm to Family programs;

  • Organize storage facilities; maintain market totes and first aid supplies.

  • Act as a point person between the market, vendors, authorities and any emergency personnel if an issue or incident arises on market days.

Market Days

  • Be present at each market, providing the highest level of customer service and address any questions or feedback from vendors, customers, and volunteers;

  • Handle opening and closing on market days, while staying onsite during market hours (6:00am-3:00pm);

  • Put up and take down signage for the market;

    • Including tow signs on Friday evenings

  • Arrange and staff information table/Manager’s Tent during market hours;

  • Ensure all market signage, literature, merchandise, and handouts are properly and attractively displayed at all times during the market day;

  • Delegate tasks and supervise seasonal staff at each market;

  • Ensure a clean and safe environment in addition to compliance with COVID-19 market guidance;

  • Check necessary supplies and equipment are at each market and maintained;

Administration

Financial Management and Record Keeping

  • Collect space fees from vendors and provide receipts;

  • Collect, count, and record market tokens, Crop Cash, Farm to Family coupons, etc. from vendors at each market;

  • Submit vendor payments / reimbursement log to Market Director to process.

  • Distribute reimbursement checks to vendors at Market.
